Abstract: |
The book is divided into two parts. The first part presents the cooperatives that operate in Greece. Following the conceptual approach of the Social and Solidarity Economy and the governance of cooperatives, the dynamics of the groups and the characteristics that are critical factors for their smooth operation are analyzed. Emphasis is also placed on preventing and resolving conflicts, which are their two major problems together with economics. Governance models and human resources management strategies help to better understand the potential of these projects and the process of transforming them into sustainable collective actions. The second part presents practical questions as to how social enterprises operate. The development of good business plans is a crucial factor in their success. This perception is strengthened in the book by presenting both successful and failed examples from various areas of the Social and Solidarity Economy in Greece and abroad concerning their governance issues. The role of management in terms of total quality is also crucial for the effective progress of the cooperatives, especially those that lack resources. The author's choice to combine theoretical concepts with practical issues of governance and entrepreneurship helps to understand concepts that are necessary for people involved in Social, Economic, and Political Sciences. The topics of the book can also cover the needs of postgraduate students involved in this area.
