Description:
Abstract:
The second chapter deals with the distinction between the terms Informatics and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Informatics is presented as a discipline. ICT is proposed as a tool to support the teaching practice and the learning process, including various types of educational technology. The terms "learning technologies" and "e-learning" are clarified, and the benefits of digital technology are presented, i.e. its unique characteristics, which give added pedagogical value to its use. The pedagogical use of digital technology is proposed as cognitive tool, which emphasizes on student-centered approaches. The dissemination of digital educational content resources, mainly through the Internet, has contributed to their classification, aiming at their optimal pedagogical use. One type of educational resources is digital learning objects, the characteristics of which are described and examples of their use are presented.
