Description:
Abstract:
Nucleotides play a variety of roles in cellular metabolism. Equally important is their role as structural components of nucleic acids, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), and ribonucleic acid (RNA), which constitutes the stores of genetic information. The structure of each protein is a product of information recorded in the nucleotide sequence of the cell's nucleic acids. The ability to store and transmit genetic information is a prerequisite for life.
