Abstract:
Carbohydrates or sugars are organic chemical compounds of great biological importance and are classified into monosaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides. Monosaccharides are polyalcohols containing an aldehyde group (CH=O) or a ketone group (C=O). Monosaccharides with an aldehyde group are called aldoses, while those with a ketone group are called ketoses.
