In this chapter we will analyse and present the international and national funding bodies in the context of Lifelong Learning, research and in the context of the knowledge society. Emphasis is placed on the development of the European Research Area (ERA) and the legislative framework for research in Greece. In addition, the public and private (indicative) research institutions in Greece are presented.
