Description:
Abstract:
In this chapter we analyse the concept of "quality assurance" and the related processes in the field of higher education. In particular, after defining these two central concepts, the conditions in the social, economic-political context that have given rise to the debate on quality assurance in general and specifically in the university will be explained historically. Subsequently, the different approaches/variants of the concept of quality and quality assurance will be clarified and a special - discrete reference will be made to rankings. In the last part of the chapter, we will focus on the current developments of policies related to quality assurance in higher education at European and national level.
