Description:
Abstract:
The basic principles of design and analysis of experimental measurements are presented. First, the issues of precision and sources of error, error models, comparison of alternatives, confidence intervals, linear and non-linear regression models, analysis of variance are addressed. The main types of experiments are then presented and the corresponding regression models are analyzed, with calculation of the effects and interactions of factors and of the distribution of variability. Full factorial experiments, experiments with two levels per factor (2m), the sign matrix method, experiments with repetition, fractional factorial experiments and confounding, estimation of experimental errors are included.
