Chapter 11 presents an overview of the current state of the snail farming sector in Greece. It includes data from the Ministry of Rural Development and Food regarding the number and geographical distribution of snail farms across the regions of Greece. The chapter outlines the applicable legislation for establishing and operating farms. It also presents the products and their distribution networks. Finally, the farming systems are evaluated in zootechnical and economic terms, and prospects for the development of the sector are discussed.
