Abstract:
In the third chapter, the hydraulic structures, by means of which the regulation of rivers and torrents is achieved, are described. Specifically, the guidelines for the construction of the hydraulic works are given; the constructive materials, the technical works for bank protection, regulation and leading of the main stream, bed stabilization, shortening and flood mitigation are described. Apart from the regulation hydraulic structures, three different categories of fish passage technical works are described, which are complementary to dams of small or large height. The technical description of the above hydraulic structures is followed by the quotation of fundamental hydraulic equations for their hydraulic study.
