Abstract:
Chapter 1, which serves as the introduction of the book, presents to the student some fundamental concepts related to weather and climatic phenomena. At the same time, it outlines the scope of Forest Meteorology and Climatology. Particular emphasis is placed on the complex ways in which weather and climate shape both the natural and human-made environment. The interaction between climate and forests is highlighted as a crucial factor influencing the ecology, geography, and economy of a region. Finally, the chapter provides a description of the basic measuring instruments, the types of data collected (various meteorological and climatic parameters), as well as the methods through which these are systematically recorded and visualized using meteorological and climatic maps.
