Abstract: |
This chapter deals with a very important topic for graphics systems: Lighting. This is perhaps the most significant parameter, as it contributes to the sense of realism and authenticity in the appearance of virtual objects. Even two identical 3d models have a completely different appearance depending on the method and algorithm used to calculate its interaction with artificial light. This chapter presents the main models of the light sources used in computer graphics and also includes an analysis of the Phong model ., which is widely used in real-time graphics. Finally, the algorithms for constant shading, Gouraud and Phong shading are described, along relevant examples.
