Description:
Abstract:
This chapter is fundamental for graphics systems. It serves as the foundation for implementing many more complex processes such as lighting, projection and animation (synthetic motion). Initially, linear transformations and their properties are presented. Then, two-dimensional coordinate transformations are described, followed by an introduction to homogeneous coordinates. The analysis continues with the widely used three-dimensional homogeneous coordinates, and the chapter closes with perspective and orthographic projection transformations.
