Abstract:
In the field of computer graphics we have, on one hand, the rigorous mathematical description of shapes, and on the other hand the constraints of the grid-screen on which the design will eventually be implemented. This chapter simply analyzes these constraints of the grid-screen in relation to design needs. The most well-known algorithms for designing basic shapes (such as straight lines, circles, polygons, and freeform curves) will be studied. In the design process, triangles and other polygons are approached through the iterative application of algorithms used for designing straight line segments. Curves are described as Bezier curves, closed shapes are filled with color, and at the same time it is checked whether each pixel lies inside or outside the closed shape. The contents of this chapter cover the above design algorithms and well-known anti-aliasing techniques, by providing a comprehensive overview of the State-of-the-Art design techniques.
