Description:
Abstract:
This chapter, which also serves as the conclusion of the handbook, provides a brief summary of all the previous chapters while simultaneously raising questions about the future of literature—and consequently of Comparative Literature—in the era of globalization and the internet. The impacts of the internet on literature and its study will be critically examined, alongside an assessment of the new theories developed regarding these issues (e.g., Sturm-Trigonakis, Reichardt, etc.). Special attention is given to new forms of written literary expression (such as weblogs) and to the interactivity that is now transforming the conditions of text creation. Within this framework, examples of the new Weltliteratur are presented, along with interpretative approaches from the perspective of Comparative Literature.
