Description:
Abstract:
The final chapter analyzes how the shift from international to global politics has also facilitated the framing of national interests with an increased emphasis on the provision and safeguarding of public goods. However, this shift remains asymmetrical and is characterized by the dominance of the interests of great powers, as well as the lack of transparency and accountability that often accompanies the functioning of global actors. This reality frequently generates tendencies to question globalization, along with the emergence of political forces that seek to enclose and fortify states. Based on this reasoning, the chapter examines ways in which the operation of global actors could balance the desire of states to maintain and control, where possible, the formation of their economic and social policies, with the inevitable interconnectedness and vulnerability that currently define global politics.
