Abstract: |
In Chapter 6, a description is given of a second application concerning the content of light, which revised the initial laboratory approach but also partly the structure of the lessons. The History of ideas about light was used as a source of scientific ideas, and the study was carried out jointly with a colleague who specializes in theatrical expression. The assumptions guiding this application were: a) historical narratives emphasize abstract ideas about light, which were downplayed in the first application, b) the multiplicity of historical representations frees students’ experiments from the anxiety of error, and c) the collaboration, continuous presence, and disagreements of both instructors in all the lessons provide a true dimension of interdisciplinary approaches. The evaluation showed that the first assumption was weak. While a relative balance was achieved between scientific discussions and theatrical activities, the productions continued to transform the scientific content.
