Description:
Abstract:
In Chapter 4, a theoretical and bibliographic approach to the historical relationship between these two long-standing human endeavors is presented. Bibliographically, the chapter highlights: a) scientific issues that have been theatrically projected over the past two centuries. These issues relate to the theatrical portrayal of the consequences of scientific applications on society. They ultimately relate to characteristics of scientific culture and its conflicts with everyday practices and "logics." b) theatrical productions that build their narratives on scientific ideas (a classic example being "Infinitum"), and c) the relationships between theatre and science that have been tested within educational structures. Theoretically, the chapter focuses on the differences and similarities that theatre and science present epistemologically. This theoretical approach emphasizes puppet theatre from the perspective of theatre and laboratory sciences from the perspective of science.
