The subject of this chapter is the analysis of light using a prism and a diffraction grating, as well as the experimental determination of wavelengths. The experimental exercise topics include: understanding the operation and use of a spectrometer (spectroscope–goniometer), calculating the refractive index of the prism glass for different wavelengths, analyzing light using both a prism and a diffraction grating, and verifying the phenomenon of dispersion.
