Abstract: |
Chapter 10 is a brief introduction to differential equations (DE). Given that the subject is vast, we limit ourselves to certain categories of common first-order DEs, with an emphasis on first-order linear DEs and first-order DEs with separated variables. We also make a brief reference to linear homogeneous DEs with constant second-order coefficients. We conclude with a brief introduction to Euler's method. The aim of this section is, on the one hand, to introduce students to a method that they may encounter in other courses in numerical analysis and, on the other hand, to help them consolidate their understanding of the concept of DE.
