Abstract:
This chapter explores the implications of corpora in areas such as discourse analysis, starting from the relation between text linguistics and corpus linguistics. In particular, it discusses the relevance of corpora for the analysis of text types or genres and text structure. It also analyses findings from corpus analysis that relate to pragmatics and more specific questions, including the approach followed by Critical Discourse Analysis and related issues.
