Description:
Abstract:
This chapter presents basic types of corpora, in terms of such features as language selection, breadth of linguistic coverage, modality, temporal coverage, data openness and type of annotation. It discusses the principles of corpus design in terms of such parameters as size, content, sampling, respresentativeness, metadata, and availability, as well as the specific procedures of corpus compilation. Finally, selected corpora in Greek and other languages are presented; of these the Corpus of Greek Texts is focused on and analysed in detail.
