Abstract:
In this introductory chapter, useful definitions and theorems necessary for understanding the following chapters are given. Elements from Probability Theory and Estimation are presented. In particular, from Probability Theory, the concepts of the probability of the random variable, the probability function and probability density function, as well as the main discrete and continuous distributions, are given epigrammatically. From Estimation, the concepts of random sample, statistical function, estimators and their properties, as well as the methods of finding them, are given.
