Abstract:
In the 2nd chapter, the basic concepts of hypothesis testing are given. The null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis are defined. In addition, the rejection region of the null hypothesis and its acceptance region, the types of errors and their sizes, the power function and the types of control functions (nonrandomized test statistic, uniformly most powerful test statistic, unbiased) are defined. The fundamental lemma of Neyman-Pearson, which forms the basis of the hypothesis testing theory, is formulated and proved. The lemma is applied with illustrative examples and exercises.
