Presentation of the views that prevailed during the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries in the field of economic policy of states, which are summarized by the doctrine of "Mercantilism" or "Commercialism." The basic characteristics of this doctrine were intense nationalism and the belief that the planning of economic activity should be a means to achieve the goals of the state.
