Abstract: |
This chapter aims to describe the systems used to record electrical bio-signals generated by the functioning of the human eye. Basic structural and functional elements of the human eye are presented, with an emphasis on the retina, where the cells producing action potentials are located. The eye movements of the human eye, which are of interest for study, are also discussed. The electrooculographic systems primarily involve two types of devices. The first device presented is the electroretinograph (ERG), which records the electrical activity of retinal cells. The second device is the electrooculograph (EOG), which records eye movements through the shifts of the electrical dipole between the two eyes.
