Global biomes
Authors: Vrahnakis, Michael
Description:
Abstract:
The seventh teaching unit (TU7) of the book aims to introduce the reader to the concepts of global vegetation formations. This is attempted by analyzing the evolution of vegetation grouping patterns, showing the variety of approaches to this analysis. Then TU7 discusses the 7 most important biomes in global level, as they appear from the equator to the polar regions. Emphasis is placed both on the description of the ecological features that sustain the particular biomes, and on the productivity and biomass sections provided by the biomes.
