Global climate and soil patterns
Authors: Vrahnakis, Michael
Description:
Abstract:
The sixth teaching unit (TU6) of the book aims to introduce the reader to the concepts of global patterns of vegetation productivity. This is attempted by analyzing 30 climate patterns produced at the planetary level after applying the Köppen-Geiger climate criteria. According to them there are five basic types of climate (tropical, dry, temperate, continental and polar) that make up the first group of criteria. The second sub-group of criteria is related to humidity criteria and the third to temperature criteria. The TU6 closes with the brief description of global soil patterns and the investigation of the causal relationships they develop with climate patterns.
