This chapter reviews the welfare principles of the farmed aquatic animal species, such as disease prevention, promotion of animal health and welfare in relation to the quality of the aquatic environment and the farming system. The methods of organic aquaculture for the prevention and applied treatment of diseases of aquatic farmed organisms with respect to their farming environment, safe food production and public health are discussed.
