Abstract:
The book consists of 8 chapters. The Introduction develops the methodological and analytical background for sustainable environmental management. The basic methods for calculating mass and energy balances in nature are presented with concrete examples. Three categories of mass transformations are also discussed: physical, chemical and biological. Finally, the processes leading to chemical exchange at the boundary of a reference volume are described. Exchange at the air-water interface and the chemistry of adsorption at the sediment-water interface are discussed in detail.
