Abstract: |
In Chapter 5, we define the Fourier transform of aperiodic continuous-time signals and present their energy spectral density. Then we demonstrate in detail, and accompany by examples, the following properties of the Fourier transform: linearity, time shift, frequency shift, convolution in time, multiplication in time, scaling in time and frequency, duality, derivation, and integration. Indicatively, we present applications of the Fourier transform in the study of LTI systems. To unify the concepts of Chapters 4 and 5, we prove the Fourier transform of periodic continuous-time signals and the response of a LTI continuous-time system to sinusoidal inputs.
