Description:
Abstract:
In Chapter 1, we introduce the concepts of signal, system, and signal processing. The chapter focuses on discrete-time signals and systems. We introduce the concepts of energy, power, and periodicity, as well as simple discrete-time signal operations. The analysis of discrete-time signals into pulses is presented. We also introduce the concepts of systems and their stationarity, time invariance, linearity, causality, and stability. For linear time invariant (LTI) systems, we prove the input-output relationship and define the impulse response and the convolution. Finally, we analyze linear difference equations with constant coefficients and, as subcases, finite impulse response systems and first-order recursive systems.
