The second (2nd) chapter analyses the area of the Social State, as a field of action of the Social Worker. The main purpose of this section is to enable readers to identify, understand and analyse various aspects of the conceptualisation of the Social State and the Welfare State; to identify, understand and analyse aspects of the design and implementation of social policies; to understand and interpret relevant phenomena in the historical and contemporary context of the development of the Welfare State and its relationship with the importance of the Market influence.
