The period in which Canon has taken its definitive form, has prevailed over the kontakion definitively and flourishes through the hymnography of very important hymnographers, originated from Constantinople, Jerusalem or the Italian environment, is presented. Their biographies and ergography are given, while the basic characteristics of their Canons are briefly examined. One of their characteristic Canons (or excerpt) is listed below, followed by translation and commentary.
