Abstract: |
The course that the educational role of the museum has taken since the 19th century until today, as well as how it has been shaped by the respective educational theories, which, schematically, are grouped into traditional and modern ones. The framework for designing educational programmes and activities is also discussed. The final part of the chapter contains selected examples of good practice. What should be emphasised from the outset is that the educational dimension of the museum concerns all its visitors and not exclusively children as school pupils.
