Chapter 4 first examines the structure of an environmental impact assessment study. Environmental assessment directives such as 2001/42/EC are mentioned. The Strategic Environmental Assessment and its differences with the EIA are presented. In the following, various stages of the preparation of the EIA are mentioned which concern the control, the submission of reports, the consultation, the investigation techniques, the evaluation criteria, the environmental indicators and the selection criteria of the indicators. Finally, the drafting methodologies of environmental impact assessment studies are presented, as well as the structure and content of EIAs.
