Then the projects related to the extraction of oil and natural gas are considered. In the last twenty years, Renewable Energy Sources have emerged as an alternative to fossil fuels. The benefits and disadvantages of RES as well as the main points of the European policy for the promotion of RES are examined. Nuclear energy is then examined in relation to the environment and the current European legislation on nuclear safety issues. The following are the measures for the protection and management of the marine environment. Finally, a review is made of the projects in the urban environment in the time periods 1828-1922, 1923-1960, the post-war period, the dictatorship period, 1974-1981, 1981-1992 and the period after 1992.
