Chapter 3 provides an analysis of the evolution of the main indicators related to enterprises within the European Union and evaluates the development of macroeconomic conditions, focusing on fiscal and monetary policy, inflation rate, employment, and economic growth rate. The analysis is conducted taking into account the economic and institutional framework of the European Economic and Monetary Union, based on what is perhaps the most important strategic goal of the European economy: the convergence among European countries.
