Description:
Abstract:
Stress is the body's emotional and cognitive response to demanding situations. In sports, it is the athlete's reaction to the demands of his effort for high performance and the pressure of competition. Anxiety and its symptoms (cognitive and physical) usually have negative ramifications and are often perceived as something "bad" for the athlete who experiences them. Its control is the ability to deal with it either by reducing it, or by creating a positive perception of the existence of stress. Relaxation techniques complement and support mental and physical calmness. If in competitive sports athletes very often experience stress situations, the correct use of sports in people of all ages in exercise programs have a beneficial and catalytic role in its regulation. Stress management techniques and strategies are developed in this chapter suitable for athletes, students, healthy and clinical populations.
