In the second chapter, Gérard Genette's neologisms (transtetextuality, hypertextuality, paratextuality, etc.) in relation to intertextuality are described and some of Linda Hutcheon's arguments in defense of modern, and especially postmodern parody, are listed. Finally, a number of examples of past artworks that may have served as 'models' for this now generalised artistic practice are cited.
