Abstract:
This chapter focuses on the possibilities of utilizing the Greek National Aggregator of Educational Content «PHOTODENTRO» in teaching history. The chapter consists of two parts. The first part presents the services, functions, capabilities of the "PHOTODENTRO", as well as the identity, metadata and exploitation of learning objects for history. In the second part, we focus our analysis on the pedagogical framework of the "PHOTODENTRO". In particular, the following are described: (1) strategies for searching learning objects, software and educational material based on the topic, type of learning object and keywords (simple and advanced search), (2) teaching approaches with the Learning Design model, asynchronous and synchronous, where the connection of historical resources with the development of historical content knowledge is highlighted, the cultivation of historical skills and the development of historical thinking concepts, (3) teaching strategies of exploratory, constructive and sociocultural nature, such as: document-based question, historical research and interpretation of primary sources. Then, activities are presented using educational resources of the "PHOTODENTRO" in order to understand that historical narrative is a complex process that depends, among others, on the selection of historical sources and their interpretation. Each activity focuses on the development of skills that are considered important for the development of historical thinking and digital citizenship: (1) Searching for historical information in the "PHOTODENTRO" based on the historical question and the subject. (2) Organization of educational material. (3) Creation of educational scenarios based on the discovery learning. (4) Presentation of representative learning objects in history. (5) Evaluation of learning subjects in history with criteria.
