Abstract:
The section 1 of the eighth chapter refers to human activities such as tourism, agriculture, fishing, maritime transport, the exploitation of underwater hydrocarbon and natural gas deposits and the control of river inputs. Environmental pressures and threats (i.e. marine and atmospheric pollution) are described in section 2, while sections 3 and 4 refer to overfishing and non-indigenous (alien) species. Finally, section 5 describes quantitatively the retreat of the deltaic coasts.
