Description:
Abstract:
This chapter presents environments of cultural material and classical world collections, which are exhibited on digital platforms, virtual museums and galleries, 3D cultural and archaeological sites and art repositories. The chapter begins with a description of platforms such as Europeana, Google Arts and Culture, and the Photodentro-Culture repository. In addition, a brief navigation of the integrated art collections, which include these digital environments, is attempted and ways of focused search of the evidence are suggested, depending on the thematic categories used by the specific repositories. Then, a reference is made to the digital tools available on the above web portals, such as the detailed description of the metadata of the collection objects, the "zoom in" digital enlargement tools, the possibility of 360-degree 3D observation of the exhibits, the virtual tour of digitized museums, world-renowned art galleries and archaeological sites. Finally, selected works of art from these digital collections are approached through the "Artful Thinking" observation model and approach that contributes to the development of students' thinking dispositions.
