| Abstract: |
This chapter analyzes the aesthetics and the functional purpose of the various forms of visual arts. The selection criteria of the art works and the multiple ways of using them in the teaching practice is presented. Extensive reference is made to the need for increased protection of copyright in the 21st century, where modern media enable the uncritical publication and reproduction of works of art. In addition, the term "common domain", which refers to all works of art whose free use is permitted, is approached and relevant online repositories are listed.
