Abstract: |
This chapter offers a thorough approach to important concepts of public finance. It begins by analysing the phenomena of economic downturns or recessions and great depressions, their consequences and the public policies to deal with them from a theoretical and historical perspective. It, then ,presents the main economic systems, including the functioning of markets, their advantages and failures. This is followed by a study of inflation and GDP, as well as fiscal, tax and monetary policy. Finally, any benefits of regulation to the economy are assessed, as well as its limitations.
