The chapter is an introduction to the theory and practice of employment policy evaluation. It starts by distinguishing between evaluations of specific interventions (employment programmes) and evaluations of policies which may involve multiple interventions. Then we discuss the main types of evaluation and evaluation criteria. The chapter concludes with a detailed reference to "theory-based evaluation", and a discussion on how to use evaluation findings.
