Description:
Abstract:
The main objective of this book is to shed light on the correspondence between the different types of unemployment, economic theories on their causes, and the policies these theories propose to combat the causes and eliminate unemployment. It fills an important gap in Greek literature since it is the first textbook on employment policy, including its design and evaluation. The book seeks to familiarize students with the different conceptual approaches and definitions of unemployment, the different ways of its measurement, the diversity of the phenomenon and the unequal distribution of its risk among different social groups, its theoretical interpretations, and policies to deal with it. In addition, it aims to introduce students to the design principles and implementation challenges of employment policies and the types, techniques, and methods of employment policy evaluation. Finally, it aims to achieve the fullest possible understanding of the above issues through the connection of theory with applied policy at international, European, and national levels.
