Regional inequalities and development
Authors: Artelaris, Panagiotis
Description:
Abstract:
The aim of the chapter is to investigate the relationship between regional (income) inequality and the level of (national) economic development. The theoretical and empirical discussion focuses on the “inverted U” hypothesis, developed in Chapter 2; this theoretical approach suggests that the form of the relationship between regional inequalities and the level of national development is “inverted U”. This hypothesis is examined empirically for the case of the Geek regions.
