The purpose of the chapter is to describe and present the main indicators used to measure regional development and inequality. Such indicators include economic variables, such as the variables of the regional accounts (e.g. the Gross Domestic Product - GDP), social variables, such as unemployment, education, and health, etc. and composite indicators, including various types of variables (economic, social, political, etc.).
