Description:
Abstract:
The “Role-playing” instructional technique is presented in the framework of group and collaborative learning model. Initially, the teacher collaborates with volunteer trainees, to whom he assigns roles to represent or dramatize a situation, a function or an event and guides them in how to conduct it. The roles assumed by the learners serve specific objectives. With the active participation of as many learners as possible, and active monitoring by the rest, the technique aims to increase the interest of all participants, leading them through experiential learning and constructive discussion to positive learning outcomes. The technique is developed with two examples from the field of Computer Science Education. The first refers to a one-dimensional array sorting role-play and the second to the proceedings of a scientific conference.
