Description:
Abstract:
The concept of parametric design and design intent is defined. The basic elements that define a three-dimensional digital object (sketch, 3D model, features, and reference elements) are presented along with the stages of its development. The two most common ways of parametric design based on design intent (constraint-based and feature-based design) are analyzed. The basic types of constraints and relationships used to define 2D and 3D geometry during parametric design are described. Numerous examples and cases of parametric design based on design intent are given. The chapter concludes with the concept of assembly and the use of assembly rules that reflect design intent.
